Cruach House, Carrick Castle

Building a new house from scratch is a very stressful experience for most people as it involves a lot of planning, time and financial commitment. This house was architect-designed to be environmentally friendly. It has extra thick insulation throughout the building using hemp, glasswool and Kingspan. The windows are double glazed and Argon-filled. The heating system uses 600 metres of underground pipes in the garden to a heatpump in the basement. This in turn provides substancial heat to the underfloor heating pipes set in concrete on all floors and hot water for domestic use including showers. The system is backed up with two solar panels that also supply hot water to the system.

It is important when giving an unsolicited testimonial that the reader understands that this house is of the 'Grand Design' type and therefore not a basic kit house and therefore a complicated structure that had to be completed.

Britton Joinery's team, under the leadership of Gary Britton, have to have our total praise given to them for their high standard of work, for working hard and for long hours and when they said they would, and, finally for keeping to the budget. Well done - we would recommend Britton Joinery to anyone!
